To be eligible for membership in this society a student must show outstanding traits of character, scholarship, leadership, and service. Students who are in the upper third of their class meet the scholastic require- ment. Five new members were inducted into the society. Juniors were Betty Burrows, Joyce Herr, and Kay Steiner. The two seniors were Joanne Pace and Joyce Brubaker. Last year's members--Ann Bolbach, Priscilla Young and Ronald McCornsey--re -stated their pledge. Get the school calendar from the office, Betty Bur- rowsorders Dorothy Stuafferg you MUST meet that dead- line. Articles soon start pouring in and the editors are swamped with papers. The printer is next on the list, and finally the finished product comes out. Then the pressure of the next issue begins to mount. ?e'4tuu4 FIRST ROW: Fay Minney, Joanne Pace, editor, Martha Schotta. SECOND ROW: Margaret Mayhew, Barbara Leed, Joyce Herr, Priscilla Young. All articles mustbe intomorrow! shouts Joanne Pace, feature editor. Brains start brewing wild ideas, imagina- tions boil over as the feature reporters go to work. Margie Mayhew and Joyce Herr leave the room for a quick inter- view with several teachers. Doesn't anyone know any gossip? cries Penny Young as she enters the room. Joanne ilits about giving assistance to some and lendinga few ideas for stories to others. Bar- bara Leed is busy writing another of her imaginative stories. Get busy on your articles ! orders Joanne to Mar- tha Schotta and Fay Minney. They must be in on time! Confusionreigns as the feature staff hurries to successfully meet a deadline. Spam FIRST ROW: Mr. Silknetter, Advisor, Audrey, Judy Wit- mer ,co-editors. SECOND ROW: Edward Eckman, Eugene Mitchell, Ruth Shay. Are all the games written up? Have you contacted Coach Kruase about a picture? Gosh, I left the score book at home. These are typical exclamations that are heard from the sports department of the LIMELIGHT. Co- editors Judy Witmer and Audrey Rowe are busily writing Sports Talk while their reporters hurriedly collect score books and proceed to sum up the games. Mr. Silknetter is studying new types of headlines, and revising some ofthe articles before they go to the typists. Now they're finally readyto make up the dummy. Where are the cuts forthe sports page? We'1l have to continue this on page four And then--the sports department is ready for the printer. ' aedoofnewd. Am Boibach, Editor-in-Chief. M155 Klme. More pictures to take, teachers to contact, film to develop, and trips to make to the dark room fiJ.l Barry's busy schedule during the LINIELIGHT activity period. Photographs are sent into Lancaster to be engraved before they are finally ready for the printer. Here are some more articles to type, Mrs, Snyder tells Peggy Van Cleve. Click, click, click, ring-- Oops, Imade a mistake. I'll have to start over. Where's that eraser? Ineed another ribbon. Then the typed articles are sent to the printers for copy proofs. This is a scream, I'll have to put it in the paper, Gosh, I can't find my news sheet, do you have it? So Iwrote , Mr. Cox told the class ----- . These exclamations or similar ones come straight from the mouths of the cub reporters. The cubs listen attentively in classes, in lunch lines and in the halls for any juicy gossip or bits of news they may copy onto their news sheets. Cubs play impor- tant roles in the making of a newspaper. 76It!4Q4d6f FIRST ROW: Sally Schneider, Doris Garner, John Herr, James Brubaker, Sue Wilson. Boy, I have a good article this time, exclaim the sophs in journalism class. We leamed all about the feature story last week, now we must write editorials. I can't find many different editorials. Newspaper clip- pings are brought inand the class discusses their good and bad points. All types or news, feature, and sports articles are studied.Head1ines are a major part of the journalism study, too.
