In this, The 1957 Badger, you will see the students filling these empty rooms as they participate in school- work, sports, clubs, and social functions. We hope these pages, filled with the various activities that are a part of Lmpasas High, will remind you of your happy moments when you were a part of Our School in Action. i 4 I ' - 5El.M,r..,mmEiw-m- 'fi' W '-T--H ' , Gr 1 A H ag, ,m.mvP' LUCILE NORRIS To you, Mrs. Norris, because you have given your best to Lampasas High School and have played an important part in the development of our yearbook, we dedicate The 1957 Badger. CAMPUS CAPERS You are about to take a journey with Li'l Badger as he goes through a few of the big Campus Capers which took place during the year 1956-57. Li'l Badger has very little space, so he can show you only a few of his activities. Li'l Badger hopes you will see your- self in his place in many of his capers, for they are taken from YOUR life in L.H. S. this year. As Li'l Badger begins the school year, one of his first capers is having his picture made for the school annual, He laughs at the sight of some of the senior boys in white shirts, ties, suit coats,--and blue jeans! Everyone primps all day and looks forward to being called out of class during the day for the various club pictures. , Band-gear looks forward with excitement to the annual Ha loft Part , for his irlfriend ma be crowned HayloftyQueen. 'lglhe Hag!-loiiggy this-ygar. ..,-f 4 .---1 .-4 celebrates the centennial of Lampasas. The Hayloft Party offers western entertainment and attracts people from miles around. It is sponsored by the Kiwanis club, and its proceeds aid crippled children. D6 ERS 1 N ij IX ' ft V,H 'Y a ,f Li'l Badger Catches the spirit at the pep rallies before all the big sports events. He gets that good ol' Badger spirit from the cheerleaders, as they lead the yells and songs for the Badgersg the other students as they yell and clap in time to the music from the bandg the faculty and townspeople as they cheer the Badgers on to victory with words of wisdomg and the band as it plays songs to cheer on the team, 1' Z- X412 1w . - sri, !,s::-bs5E5s- Y- A1 576- K I sf v-far-: 1: f ' 1 r V :fi -ILE? The annual is compiled by high school students and is a precious memory for everyone. The arrival of the annuals in the spring is a special event for everyone. . . Li'l Badger works hard in the campaign for Free- dom Foundation Week, which is one ofthe big events of the year. Freedom Week is an effort to make Americans realize how for- tunate they are to live in a free, democratic country. It is sponsored by the Hill Country Project in Economic Understanding, which is under the auspices of the Texas Bureau for Economic Understanding. . , Li'l Badger gets a sneak preview of what is to come when he sees several of the D. E. students decorate for their annual banquet, This ban- quet is for the D. E. students and their employers. Li'1 Badger is very pleased over the choice of Football Queen, Band Sweetheart, Maid of Paper, and F.H.A. King. The Football Queen and her attendant are chosen by the football team, and the Band Sweetheart and her attendant are chosen by a secret ballot of the band members. Both the Football Queen and Band Sweetheart receive a large bouquet and a big kiss on the football field before an important home game. . . A candi- date for Maid of Paper is chosen by each of the four classes of L.H. S. Li'1 Badger sup- ports his favorite candidate by buying a sub- scription to THE BADGER, our high school paper. The Maid of Paper is crowned by the student council president. . . The F, H. A. King is chosen by a popular vote from the F.H. A. members. Four L.H.S. boys are nominated by an F.H. A. committee, and the F.H.A. King is chosen from these four boys. He is crowned by the F.H.A. presi- dent in a special F.H. A. assembly during F.H.A. Week. Li'l Badger goes to the F.H.A. initiation ceremony, which is a special assembly for the entire student body. He sees each of the new F.H.A. members, both girls and boys, receive a small red and white ribbon pin. This ceremony gives Li'l Badger an opportunity to learn more of F.H.A. and its mean- ing. . .Members of THE BADGER staff work hard to meet their deadline. They are very proud of their scoop for this edition. THE BADGER is one of the outstanding high school newspapers in Texas. . .The National Honor Society initiation inspires Li'l Badger to work harder for leadership, character, truth, and scholarship. These traits are the basis for membership in N. H. S. Twenty-one lucky seniors receive the blue and white ribbons which indicate membership, in addition to the five who were taken in last spring when they were juniors. . . Li'l Badger gets a big laugh out of the senior play, A Boy Named Beulah. He is glad to give his money to see the hilarious antics of the play, in addition to the knowledge that his money will help the seniors have fun on their one-day trip. We hope you have enjoyed your trip through this school year with Li'l Badger, for he has certainly enjoyed having you along. You have seen only a few of the Campus Capers for 1956-57 captured on these pages, but we think Li'l Badger and his good times will help you remember all the fun you have had this year, Don't you think the year has been a great one?! ? auf n Li'l Badger wishes he could go to the annual school board dinner, one of the capers which is under supervision of the homemaking department. Li'l Badger wishes he were a school board member so that he could get in on the wonderful food. . . Li'l Badger goes to one of the big parties which occur during the year. These parties are sponsored by various clubs and students of L. H. S. Part of them are to raise money, and part of them are just to give everyone a chance to have a lot of fun, , , Another one of Li'l Badger's capers for the year is the Valentine Dance. The proceeds from this dance help the Junior Pierians give their spring formal later in the year. The dance is an in- formal one with canned music, but it gives everyone a chance to celebrate St. Va1entine's Day in a big way.
