' fl ,J ,, , . 1 ' AS ,X - K. ,- l ' 5 . 5 F ' I V A: UU 5 aaa Aalory Our mommies vashed our faces, combed our hair, and sent us to school for the first time in September of the year l9Hl The follow ing little angels answered when Miss Bohnenblust called roll Wayne Anthony, Dixie Ashenhurst, James Ashburn, Elson Ballantyne Joyce Ballantyne Alva Bush, Jim Closson, Harlan Creswell, Eileen Dunbar Maribelle arp, Jean Hodges, Bob Kizzire, Sarah Ellen Lorance Ruth McElroy, Ramona Mickelson, Sharon Noftsger, Margaret Ordway, oanne Piercy Lillian Sams, Darlene Simpson, Nadine Norma homas Stephen Thomas Shirley Wilson, Finger painting was our specialty this year us to paint with one finger but Micky couldn' both hands Bill Shipman caused quite a stir Ashburn out the window milk was a special treat a little nap and scooted Many of us still cherish blust gave us at the end The next year Harry Milk call was always When exhausted, w a popular laid down our rugs around to lay by whom the little, green memory book of the year Swift Bill Shipman and Ronald Amundson Miss Bohnenblust told t resist going at it with when he threw James time Chocolate on our rugs for we wanted Miss Bohnen Gray, Ernie Green Harold Creighton DeWayne Payne Loyal Bell Edmond and Betty Van Orsdale, and Larry Jay White Joined our happy group We lost five fellow classmates Miss Carpenter was our teacher Our attention was concentrated on learning to read and to print our name this year We never were very proud of our rhythm band Harold Creighton and Bill Shipman were experts on the drums Ve welcomed Margaret Propst, Dixie Ashenhurst, and Connie Tennant into our ranks in second grade Three students left us for greener pastures Miss Marcella took over we angels but as Seniors we mourned her death We learned to write this year and were expecially trium phant when we could read the funny papers Also we learned the ways of an Indian We even made a teepee and baskets, pottery, and corn dolls were on the list of our products A favorite trick was throw ing the ball up on the roof of the gym so we could climb out and get t Clever little k1ds When we succeeded in learning all the flash cards Miss Marcella rewarded us by making a silhouette of each one of us Mrs Key welcomed us into third grade with open arms Don Laswell and Jack Palmer Joined us this year, while Shirley Wilson decided she would like Davis City better All the boys were enchanted by Mrs Key's perfume Anyone caught swearing on the playground got his mouth washed out with soap On the last day of school everyone had to kiss Mrs Key good bye Harlan had eaten onions for dinner but that d1dn't taunt him At the beginning of the fourth grade we missed six of our class mates and Brenizer problems was a new scroll of with our stinky scientific experiments Mrs Flaggard was our teacher in the fifth grade puzzled because she could see what we were doing out of gained Carl Shakespeare Leland Stanley, Louita Goode Robert and Margaret Ordway Miss Lester's specialty was home run We learned all about Pimwe who lived in the Amazon History subgect Harlan Creswell and Sharon Noftsger all the explorers We tried to gas everybody drew us a in the building She had us all the back of her head when she was writing on the blackboard The last day of school she told us she could see us reflected in her glasses against the board. This year Gerald Atkins and Bob Kizzire became fellow angels while three others left us. Black man was our favorite game on the playground. The girls nearly got killed! Nancy Baldwin was our angel for the Christmas program but she had trouble keeping her face straight. Were we proud to be sixth graders! Cur teacher was Miss Hill. This year two angels left and Alva Bush, Alfred Beaty, Marie Slauter, Lillian Sams, and Ruby Turney joined us. Q Q . . . u we gave Norma was a pioneer mother and was supposed to yell HWest ward, ho'H She couldn't so Bill stood behind the curtain and yelled it for her Everyone thought Norma's voice was changing The last day as we sang HSchool Days we were a little sad to be leaving the grade school Life was quite different in the high school building Mr Mac Donald was our homeroom teacher New faces were Gary Graves, Bob Shields and Carol Hall We will never forget some of the methods Mr Mac Conald used to tame us down The 'cooler was an ever popular place and placeing our nose in the circle on the blackboard was done often Anyone caught chewing gum spent the rest of the class with it on his nose We had a good basketball team this year Our cheerleaders were Pauline Clark and Louita Goode Marie Slauter was our class president Our class picnic was held at North Woods and it ended up a mud throw ing party Mrs DeLong was our homeroom teacher in eighth grade We partlcu larly liked her arithmetic classes becau e we got to listen to the World Series and figure batting averages This year Lane Reeves Barbara Edmunds Gerald Batcllffe, and Evelyn Scantlln joined us and Wayne Anthony moved away Bill Shipman was class president Ruth and Louita were cheerleaders with Norma and Nancy as SUbSt1tut9S Harlan won the school spelling contest For our freshman year we moved upstairs to study hall It looked like it would take a long time to ever get to sit on the north side But we figured we could survive four more years There were alot of new faces this year Gordon Benson, Everett Evans, Claribelle Boswell, Donna Bowen Roberta Brenizer John DeLong, Sue Elswlck Linda Euritt Paul Gardner Patty Hagen Clarence Hamilton Marilyn Ruggles, Artie Hullinger Robert Omer Shirley Perry, Luther Snethen Katherine Strong, Shirley Wilson, Robert Nauman, and Dean Wardrip We had quite a tlme in General Science Nancy accumulated about l0,000 words worth of themes for talking Sharon Noftsger was our president and Darlene Simpson was elected queen candidate In our sophmore year the football team was the center of interest as they smashed through unbeaten The Homecoming parade was a dis appointment because it rained and ruined our floats Carol Hall was queen candidate and Jean Hodges was nominated by the Letterman's Club Jim Closson won the liars contest at our class party Our president was Claribelle Boswell Darlene Simpson was elected cheerleader There were a lot of steadies Marle S and Larry W Bill S and Norma T Claribelle B and Jim C , and Carol H and Larry M were together regularly As Juniors we were upper classmen We greeted Irene Gatton and Bonnie Silver as new members of our class Carol Hall became a cheer leader Our candidate Donna Bowen, was chosen for homecoming queen Jean Hodges was Letterman's candidate Marie Slauter was our president Our big project for first semester was the play, HThe Little Dog Laughed H During practice one night, Carol and Jean gave Micky a permanant Each time she came on stage she had a few more curlers in her hair Claribelle was elected State b H A president We will never forget our banquet and the fun planning it Mr Reneau and Mrs Fisher were our sponsors As our beautiful nShowboatn cruised down the river, our guests were treated with the best show and food ever on any showboat Afterwards the town gave us a prom, movie, and games all night We then had breakfast together and certalnly appreciated all the work many people put into lt to make it a wonderful night Seniors at last Ruth McElroy surprised us by announcing her marriage Jlm Closson is president The Lettermen again nominated Jean Hodges for queen candidate She was elected and Ruth Booker was 3 ChaI'H11f1EZ Class attendant. Clarlbelle Boswell, Jean Hodges, and Donna Bowen became cheerleaders. This year is full of Senigr excite ment- class rings, pictures. announcements. and commencement plans. The annual staff and NTeachH have put in many hours trying to make this HDemonH the best yet, We are proud of it.
