the Allied Nations. here are also many who, even though they did not complete their high school education, gained qualities of obedience, lead- ership, and courage while in L. H. S., that have gone far in making them better soldiers. sailors, marines, WAACS and WAVES. As we sit in our classes and study halls, we are taking the place of ex- students who are far from their home state, Texas, and some who are even far from the United States. As many of these men face new dangers, they doing it with thoughts of their school, home, and country, and so that future generations may enjoy the privileges of a free democracy. We are able to follow many of them through their correspondence with Superintendent V. Z. Rogers, who receives countless letters and cards from ex-students and faculty members now in training camps and on the battle field. They prove through this contact with our respected superintendent that they are appreciative of all they gained while in Lamesa High. It is to these ex-students and faculty members in uniform, wherever they may be, yet always defending their country, that this 1943 El Tornado is hereby dedicated. Editor-in-Chief . .
