ert Choir Performs incoln Center nmendation of the Director of the Jackson ordan Tang, the Lambuth College Concert the fall of 1986 to sing in Avery Fisher jln Center, New York City, May 31, 1987. Con- uuviui cter Tiboris, General Director of Mid-America Pro- ductions invited the choir to be one of twelve choirs from across the country to participate in his Masterworks Choral Series. During Spring Semester the choir, in preparation for the event, raised funds and spent hours in rehearsal learning new music. Great support for the event was given by Jackson businesses, the Memphis Conference, hometown churches, and families of choir members. Over $37,000 dollars was raised to finance the trip. Certain German and Russian words twisted the tongues of the participants as rehearsals commenced. The musical selections chosen for the performance were Beethoven ' s Ninth Symphony and Tchaikovsky ' s Ode to Joy. Such an honor sets a precedent which future Lambuth Concert Choirs will find difficult to excel. Top to bottom: Proud choir members point to Lambuth ' s place of prestige on the marquee. Choir members sight-see at The Statue of Liberty. Lambuth joins eleven other choirs for rehearsal in the Grand Ballroom.
