Fine Arts Honored Each year the Fine Arts Banquet gives awards to students who have participated in the Art, Music, and Theatre departments, and to contributors to the Coffeehouse Papers. The theatrical awards given at the 1986-87 banquet were as follows: Best Actress — Tia Siilars; Best Supporting Actress — Julia Walker; Best Actor — Bill Morgan; Best Sup- porting Actor — Jack Seabury. Patricia Potter received the Interior Design Award and Margaret Mills received the award for outstanding performance in music. Rec- ognition was also given to the graduating seni- ors in Concert Band, Concert Choir, and Ka- leidoscope. Contributors to the Coffeehouse Papers were also awarded. In the field of poetry, Joan Furilla won first place; Sharon Poat, second place; and Tia Sillers, third place. The art award went to Shin-ichi Imanaka. Right: Bill ' s hard work pays off as he receives the Best Actor award. Top Athletes Are Recognized The Athletic Banquet is an opportunity for the coaches, students, and fans to show their appreciation for those who have competed in sports over the past year. Those who participated in baseball, basketball, football, cheerleading, and volleyball are recognized. Basketball awards were as follows: Best Free Throw Shooter — Jeff Campbell; Best Rebounder — Dwayne Knight; Best Defensive Player — Miguel Ratliff. Senior awards went to Clint Majors, Keith Lovett, and Ratliff. In cheerleading, the Best Cheerleader Award went to Djuana Alexander. For football, the awards were as follows: Best Offensive Player — Phillip Tregoning; Best Defensive Player — Sec Jones; Most Valuable Player — Mark Hazard; Eagle A war — Stuart Goldberg and Mike Jc« : best all-around effort and attitude. Honor ' s Day Convocation Recognizes Outstanding Students On April 20, 1987, thirty outstanding students received awards for scholarship and leadership at the Honors ' Day Convocation held in the RE. Womack Chapel. The R.E. Womack Outstanding Senior Award, which is presented to the senior who, in the estimation of the faculty and the Student Senate, has been most loyal to the school and served it in the greatest capacity, was presented to John Little by Dean Mayo. Top academic honors went to Richard Wayne Clark and Susan Millikin, who were named class Marshals, rising seni- ors with the highest grade point averages. Those who re- ceived the title of alternate Marshal were Laura Leigh Womack and Timothy Wayne Ellis. Lambuth scholars were Angela Ward, Carolyn Welch, Sharon Poat, and Tracy Lea Sadlak. Other awards included the following: John W. Burgess Political Science Award — Patrick Newton Parker, IV; Most Promising Business Major Award — Kimberley Ann Kellett; Billie P. Exum Outstanding Educator Award — Dalton Ed- dleman; Gamma Beta Phi Outstanding Service Award — Phillip Charles Hampton; Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award — Amy Stantaiello; Emily Clark So- . ciology Award — Kendall Wayne Tucker; Helen Hill Coltrain Spirit Award — Ben Adams; Marvin E. Eagle History Award — John Little; Luther L. Gobbel Freshman Citizenship Award — Dan Headrick; Freshman Mathematics Award — Roger A. Honeycutt; General Chemistry Award — Jeffrey Dalton Lansdale; American Chemical Society Award — Sherilyn Coburn; Sigma Phi Epsilon Fine Arts Achievement Award — Susan Larson; Camilla Cox Vocal Award — Brenda West; Margarette Wilson Mills Elementary Education Award — Stacey Glover; Alpha Chi Delta Junior Award — Tim Ellis; Alpha Omicron Pi Alumnae English Award — Sharon Poat; AOPi Rena Hunt Hampton Scholarship — April Mc- Clearin; Thomas Boston Moffatt, III Business Administration Award — James Patrick Neideraurer; and the Franklin K. Billings Sophomore Awards — Suzie Hively and Bill Morgan.
