Division of Humanities The HUMANITIES DIVISION made several important contributions to Lambuth this year. The most significant of these was its contribution of an academic dean to the college from this division. Gpon the appointment of former English department chairman Dr. Charles Mayo to vice President and Academic Dean, Dr. Bob Hazlewood has very capably filled the position of chairman of the English department. In addition, Dr. Annie Lou Smith has returned to teach two English composition classes. Another exciting development is the new major in broadcast communications which will be offered in the fall of 1984. In order to prepare for this major, Mr. Dalton Eddleman was away on sabbatical; and Mr. Rodney Higgenbotham, visiting assistant professor of speech, came to fill Mr. Eddleman ' s vacancy. Other changes within the department included the appointment of Marcia Mittelstadt as Director of Vocal and Choral Activities. The Division suffered some loss this year. Joanna Ross resigned after 22 years at Lambuth to return to studio artwork in Nashville. Mr. Larry Ray was appointed chairman of the art department in her place. Because of Mr. Ray ' s yearlong sabbatical, the college hired four part-time faculty members to cover the teaching loads: Susan Foote, DeNe Tyson, Talle Johnson, and Lendon Noe. Dr. Russell M. Mclntire Division Chairman Mr. Jesse Byrum Chairman, Speech Drama Mrs. Huguette P.
