Luther L. Gobbel Library The Luther L. Gobbel Library continued its standard of excellence this year in several areas. In order to keep up with the rising demands of the students, the library increased the number of volumes to 129,000. This number includes the addition of several large sets of resource encyclopedias, funded through gifts to the library. The library staff also completed the transition from the Dewey Decimal system of cataloging to the Library of Congress method, a task which required much time and effort. The library staff was pleased with the decision of the Board of Trustees to make full-time librarians eligible for tenure. Plans for the future involve the extension of the already existing computer services in the library to include a bibliographic search. This extension will make research simplier and will better enable the library to continue meeting the needs of the Lambuth community. Mrs. Judith Hazlewood, head librarian, evaluates the efforts of her kid- die lit students. LIBRARY STAFF MEMBERS — Mrs. Alexander, Mrs. Turner, Mrs. Baum, Mrs. McAlexander, Mrs. Phillips, and Ms. Hirth — pose for a pic- ture in the archives room. Documents librarian, Mrs. Alexander, and student workers, Patrice Gregory and Sheila Shelton, catalogue materials in documents room. Administration and Faculty 25

Admissions Office The admissions office underwent many changes in the ' 83 ' 84 school year. One of the most im portant changes was the appointment of Mr. Bob McLendon as the Vice President in charge of recruitment and Dean of Admissions. Cinder his leadership, the admissions office was extremely active this year. In addition to recruiting in the Tennessee-Kentucky area, the admissions counselors traveled to other states such as Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, New York, and Texas. Here on campus, they sponsored the Preview ' 84 programs and High School Day in order to encourage prospective students to visit the school. The admissions office has other new faces as well as a new leader. Robert Parker and Mary Clayton joined the staff last summer as admissions counselors. One other change in the admissions office was the move to include the financial aid office in the admissions department. Major emphasis was placed on publicity, with the new departmental brochures and posters designed to attract the attention of today ' s high school student. Mr. McLendon hopes that the new publications along with the extended travel will have beneficial results in enrollment in the future. -CT The admissions staff escorts prospective students on campus during High School Day. Members of the admissions staff include Peggy Frost, Scott Likins, Mary Clayton, Virginia Burnette, and Bob McLendon. Lambuth ' s new Vice President for Enrollment Plan- ning and Dean of Admissions is Robert McLendon. 24 Administration and Faculty
