Lullaby of Broadway ' ' Sets Theme of Pageant On March 21 a large crowd gathered at the Jackson Junior High School auditorium to watch ten talented women compete in the 1982 MISS LAMBUTH PAGEANT. The mood of the pageant was set by the theme Lullaby of Broadway. Emcees for the night were Jana Lee Ellis, Miss Lam- buth 1975, and Ed Thompson from Miami, Florida. Mr. Thompson entertained with several numbers and magic tricks. Also performing were senior Juanita Parham, Miss Lambuth 1981, Kaleidoscope and Jazz Band. Contestants were judged in four categories: swimsuit, evening gown, talent, and individual interviews. For her talent, the new Miss Lambuth, sophomore Mae Beth Steele of Florence, Alabama, presented a vocal and flute performance of Whistle a Happy Tune from The King and I. An interior design and marketing ma- jor, Miss Steele was awarded a $600 scholarship with the crown. Anne Burnette, who performed O Had I JubaPs Lyre from Handel, was first runner-up. Miss Burnette received a $200 scholarship. Second runner-up was Celeste Stroh who sang Send in the Clowns. She received a $150 scholarship.
