Changes are a fact of life. Whether we accept them or not, they go on and they affect the people we know, the things we do and the places we live and visit. Each new semester and each new year have characteristics all their own which set them apart from the rest. The past summer at Lambuth was no exception. A few old faces were missing but new ones had somehow taken their places. The cultural interchange between the Japanese and the American stu- dents was beneficial to both groups. President Harry W. Gilmer ' s comments. The Lambuth Community was honored to host the summer orientation program of the East- West Foundation. The work of the foundation, inspired by Dr. Ken Nishimura, is increasingly important in the world of the late 20th century. People throughout the world are coming to recognize more and more the interdependence of nations and cultures. Our educational systems, our colleges and universities have given only lip service to this interdependence for the most part. We must do more than this Our Japanese student guests enriched our lives this past summer and brought a new dimension of understanding to the Lambuth Community.
