Seniors Bid Farewell On Sunday afternoon, May 21, 1978, under the beautiful spring sunshine, 180 graduates received their hard-earned degrees, thus marking an end to their successful academic pursuits at Lambuth. After a busy but lovely morning that included the Baccalaureate Services and the President ' s reception, friends and families of the graduates gathered to witness the meaningful ceremony. Dr. Earl M. Ramer, professor and chairman of the department of continuing and higher education at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, addressed the graduates on the Lambuth heritage. Activities Fill Orientation Week To open the 1978 fall term, the administration, faculty, and staff greeted incoming freshmen and transfer students with an informative and entertaining weekend on campus. During this orientation period, students met with their faculty advisors and student counselors to prepare for their academic careers at Lambuth. They discussed such subjects as scheduling, campus organizations, and the secret intricacies of registration. Entertainment was provided to ease the pressures of the sudden change to college life. A reception and dance in the College Union allowed students to meet faculty members and upperclassmen. In addition, a garden buffet at Dr. and Mrs. Wilder ' s home concluded the adjustment period as students met the college president and viewed the immediate community surroundings of Lambuth.
