Awards Are Given to Cast of Butterflies Butterflies Are Free, written by Leonard Geish and directed by Jesse Byrum, was the final production of the Lambuth season. With the technical assistance of JoAnne Adrian, Toney Walsh convincingly portrayed Don Baker, a blind boy trying to live alone in New York City. Pat Robbins was cast as the kooky girlfriend, Jill Tan- ner, who gave Don the confidence to remain on his own. At the conclusion of the theatre sea- son, awards were presented to stu- dents at the fine arts banguet. For their roles in Butterflies Are Free, Pat Robbins and Toney Walsh won Best Actress and Best Actor, respectively. Bonnie Massa was named Best Sup- porting Actress for Ruth Hunsdorfer in The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man- in-the-Moon Marigolds. For his por- trayal of the Padre in Man of Lajvlan- cha, Ken Carroll was presented the Best Supporting Actor award. Audience Participates in Murder Trial Drama Under the direction of Newton Neely, the Lambuth Theatre pres- ented an unusual drama in March of 1974, The Night of January 16th. A suspenseful murder trial by Ayn Rand, it included 12 mem- bers of the audience as the jury whose verdict determined the end- ing of the play. Until the jury fore- man ' s pronouncement of the ver- dict, the cast members had no idea which ending would be performed. During the five-night run of the production, one jury found Karen Andre, performed by Marsha Cole- man of Jackson, guilty of the mur- der of her lover Bjorn Faulkner, and four juries judged her not guilty. Miss Lambuth Court Enjoys Music Marty Brock, sponsored by Har- ris Hall, won the title ot Miss Lam- buth by singing a medley consist- ing of Good-bye Love and That ' s Lite. From Greenville, Tennessee, Marty ' s major is Ele- mentary Education. Representing Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Karen Hall, trom College Station, Texas, was chosen first maid. Majoring in voice, Karen sang Ah! Nella Calma for her tal- ent. Cindy Orr, a history major from Jackson, Tenn., was named sec- ond maid. As representative for the Freshman Class, Cindy sang a medley of I ' ve Got Rhythm and Johnny One-Note. Third Maid, Cathie Carter, an English major from Bonham, Texas, was sponsored by Harris Hall. Accompanied by Mrs. Jean Koelz on the piano, Cathie per- formed a flute solo entitled Over- ture to Telemann ' s Suite in A Minor. Margaret Williams, representing South Hall, was named fourth maid. Her talent presentation was a pantomime of Spiders and Snakes. A special education major, Margaret ' s hometown is Memphis, Tenn.
