CATION At His Desk . . . The 1960 LANTERN is dedicated— with much respect and admiration— to one who we feel knows of and plays a great part in the spirit of Lambuth College. In 1924 he was selected to be a member of the Lambuth faculty. Since that time, he has taken part in numerous activities and has served in various capacities of the college. He received his education from Iowa Wesleyan College, Iowa State University, and the University of Arkansas. Before coming to Lambuth he taught at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. He takes an active part in his church, where he teaches a Sunday school class. Some of his hobbies are trees, gardening, nature trails, and corn breeding. His love for nature and the out-of-doors creates a warmth and kindness in him, which is reflected in his teaching. Lambuth has profited much from his abilities and support. And in hon- or of our love for him and our gratefulness to him, we dedicate this book to ... • MR. ARTHUR D. OXLEY

IN MEMORIAM Mrs. Mary Rice 1886-1959 Mrs. Rice was a gentle lady who gave generously of her time and tal- ents to serve the students of Lambuth College. The extra sparkle she gave to our campus has been greatly missed during this year, and the remem- brance of her humility and humble smile is with us all.
