; HBUTH COLLEGE LIBKASi JAC«C«0W, TfWNESSEF Jhe cJLctnh em 1955 LAMBUTH COLLEGE LIBRARY JACKSON, TENNESSEE 50619 -4 i fc ■it, n, t s , m. oDedi ti( icctuon Through her pro found love for music, she has contributed much to its growth and appreciation on the campus. Unfortunately, however, all of us are not talented in this field and do not have an opportunity to study under her. Nevertheless, she is well known and loved by all because of her active participation in many other campus functions. We have come to think of her in terms of her warm smile, friendly greeting, Christian principles, and love for all. Therefore, it is with humble admiration that we, the Student Body, dedicate this, the I 955 LANTERN, to one who has been a source of vitality and inspiration to each of us — rj. C lisabetk l i oSSe y srrom Jhe president 3 cJ Je k Student participation in the various projects for the development of Lambuth has made significant contributions which I am happy to record and for which I express grateful appreciation. Student understanding and patience through a period of transition have helped wonderfully. To a commendable degree students have shown discernment and a readiness to adjust to conditions and to grow with a growing institution. We all rejoice in that regional and national recognition has come to Lambuth. Membership in the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and in the Association of American Colleges opens doors of opportunity for larger service. Lambuth has experienced another epoch in her history. Lambuth ' s future, nevertheless, is still before her. We have not arrived . We must advance on all fronts. Together let us in confidence continue to seek physical, mental, moral, and spiritual maturity. Luther L. Gobbel, President -•€{ 4 Jjk- VVJJ- M W mhl h TuniLnLdtrcition -4. s )►- Marvin E. Even though four of these games were lost, high tribute should be paid to Coach Williams and to the team for giving Lambuth a basketball season that is many times better than the record indicates. The outstanding characteristics of the Eagles during the year were the fine team play and the high standard of sportsmanship displayed each time the team took the floor. Time and again Lambuth fans thrilled to see Jerry Pate, Charles Bray, and Billy McKnight as they worked the ball among them on a fast break toward the basket. The sharp-shoot- ing eye of Dick Fly, the fine rebounding of Jerry Corlew and Jackie King, and a ready group of able substitutes also must be taken into consideration when evaluating the year. We of the staff congratulate the Eagles of 1954-55 on having scored an average of 87.71 points per game for twenty-one games, and we sincerely extend our best wishes for a most successful season next year. 4 84 }§ • ■ Jne r ecord LAMBUTH OPPONENT 68 Freed-Hardeman College 54 92 Arkansas College 100 79 Arkansas College 107 86 U.
