MR. T. D. THOMPSON has proved himself to be business advisor, representative of the administration, and friend to all students who seek his services. He has entered into student enterprises with enthusiasm and kind guidance and more than every- thing else, he has been there when needed. So, to one who is the happy combina- tion of cooperation, enthusiasm and service, we, the staff, proudly and humbly dedicate the twenty-fifth anniversary edition of the LANTERN. Dr. R. E. Womack, B.A., M.A., LL.D. President of the college since its establishment, 1924 J wm Jke resident 6 UJesk . . . Students attending Lambuth College during the past few years have witnessed the greatest material growth the institution has ever had in any single year of its history. The Student Building was completed in the spring of 1948 and the Physical Education Building during the following year. Before the completion of the latter, the foundation was laid for the Memorial Chapel and its construction is now going forward. The two buildings already completed and their furnishings represent an expenditure of approximately $250,000. The chapel will cost around $100,000 when it is completed. In addition to this enlargement of the physical plant, considerable additions were made to the endowment of the college, which is now over $100,000. During the first twenty-five years of its life Lambuth has acquired a plant and ecjuipment estimated at one million dollars. Its faculty has quadrupled and its annual enrollment has grown to m ore than five times its original size. Lambuth now enjoys the respect of educational institutions of the country and the generous support of its constituency. The next twenty-five years should be a period of glorious achievement, built upon the foundations already laid. rfetntia t ' 4 t% ti w Administration And Faculty Marian Smith U.S. Assistant Librarian Joe B. EAGLE There are some persons who by their vitality, personality, interest, and kindness endear them- selves to the young people who pass through their offices and classrooms. Such a person is Dean Eagle, always ready to help with his suggestions and own experiences, his students invariably feel that they have found not only a great teacher, but a real friend. As such, Dean has endeared himself to the students who have come and gone in the twenty-five years past. To us, he typifies the true Lambuth spirit and a generation of men who have given of themselves that others might live abundantly. There is one person in the faculty who has endeared herself to all the student body. Miss Helen Womack, the registrar, with her kind graciousness, gentle patience, and friendly smile, is never too busy to answer questions, look up transcripts, or assist students through the confusion of registering for classes or enrolling in the college. During her years at Lambuth she has exhibited her fine char- acter, proved her patience, and won everlasting friends. (ZeqiAtra?
