Bang! the softball season opened at L. H. S. Enough girls came out to organize three teams, thus making the selection of a first team very difficult. The opening game of the season was played against New Hope on home ground. The exciting moment came when Betty Myers caught a pop fly, causing a triple play to be made in which the runners on first and second base were tagged out. The schedule for the year also included two games with Flemington, a return encounter with New Hope, and one game with Holmquist. 57

The boys had been eagerly looking forward to this day, and turned out in full force. The season got off to a good start when our team scored an overwhelming victory of 13-5 over New Hope. The next game with George School was held up by bad weather and, when finally played, resulted in a tie. The second team deserves much credit for its two victories over the Solebury Nine. The schedule for the season also included games with Flemington, French- town, Trenton junior Three, Bordentown, and Pennington. 56
