'a Baseball Lamar Tech finished second to champion Trinity University in the Southland Conference baseball title race. Trinity swept the first two games of the SLC tournament, 1-0 and 3-1, to take the title. During the season, Richard Valley compiled a 4-2 pitching record, with David Bernsen, 4-3, and Danny Hetzel, 3-2. One of Hetzel's wins was a no- hitter against the University of Texas at Arlington. Other notable players included Leldon Ward, Triny Rivera, Eddie Rundle, Greg Harrop, Phil Pate, Joe Augienello, Paul Knobloch, Mike Lytle and Ike Wynn.
