LAMAR TECH: 94, NORTHWESTERN LOUISIANA: 86 Again, it was Earl Dow, with assistance from Phil Endicott, Wayne Moore and reserve guard Tom Dreessen, leading Lamar Tech to a 94-86 triumph over tough Northwestern Louisiana State College at Natchitoches, La. Dow popped in 31 tallies, Endicott added 19, and Moore grabbed 15 rebounds. But it was Dreessen getting 16 points in the last 10 minutes that brought Lamar Tech from a deficit to its third win in a row. LAMAR TECH 98, TEXAS AaM: 87 The magnificent Cardinals withstood that howling mob of Texas A81M University Aggies at College Station and turned back the South- west Conference favorite 98-87 in a brilliant upset. Earl Dow led the charge with 28 points, but reserves David Post, with 15 first half points, and Tommy Dreessen, with 17 tallies in the final 15 minutes, played key roles in Lamar Teclfs fourth consecutive triumph. LAMAR TECH: 78, NORTHWTESTERN LOUISIANA: 77 lncomparable Earl Dow whistled in a 25-foot jump shot at the buzzer to give Lamar Tech a heart-stopping 78-77 win over rugged Northwestern Louisiana in McDonald Gym as the Cardinals stretched their winning skein to five games. Dow was mobbed by the faithfuls after his 20th point provided the margin of victory. Phil Endicott also con- tributed 20 markers and Kenny Haynes chipped in 15 tallies.

Basketball Lamar Tech compiled its finest basketball record in the his tory of the college during the 1968-69 season with a 20-4 won lost record. The Cardinals held a 15-0 record at one poin before falling to the University of Texas at Arlington. Thi fine undefeated record brought national acclaim to the Car dinals with feature stories about the team in Sports Illustrated,' The Sporting News, the wire services, and leading newspaperl across the nation. Considered a major college by the Unitet Press International poll, and a small college in the Associate: Press poll, the Cardinals were passed up for a post-season tournament berth. The 1968-69 season also saw closed-circui television used for the first time at several Lamar Tech homt games. LAMAR STATE COLLEGE BASKETBALL SCHEDULE 11968-69l The fantastic Earl Dow f23l. LAMAR TECH: 65, PEPPERDINE COLLEGE: 64 Trailing by as many as 11 points early in the second half, Lamar Tech rallied behind the gallant play of Earl Dow and ,lim Nicholson to nip Pepper- dine College of Los Angeles, Calif., 65-64 in the 1968-69 opener in McDonald Gymnasium. Cards Begin Season With String of Wins LAMAR TECH: 60 SOUTHWESTERN LOUISIANA: 56 Sophomore reserve guard Tommy Dreessen relieved ill-ridden Earl Dow and shot in 10 points in the final eight minutes to pull Lamar Tech to a come-from-behind 60-56 decision over Southeastern Louisiana College at Hammond. La. The Cardinals trailed for 32 minutes before Drees- sen, Phil Endicott, who had 14- points, and Wayne Moore, with 17 rebounds, turned the tide. LAMAR TECH: 103 UNIVERSITY OF TULSA: 77 The Cardinals never were better than the night of December 16 when they rode tremendous team effort to blitz University of Tulsa 103-77 in a game between unbeaten outfits. Tulsa was ranked 18th in the nation before Earl Dow and Phil Endi- cott popped in 25 points each in the rout at Mc- Donald Gym. But the talk of the town was Wayne Moore after the 6-8 senior swept 20 rebounds and played perfect defense in his greatest performance. LAMAR TECH: 94- SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA: 68 Still sizzling from their smashing win over Tulsa, the Cardinals waxed Southeastern Louisiana 94-68 in a return engagement at McDonald Gym for their eighth straight victory. Reserve David Post ignited the rout with a second half performance of 25 points and 10 rebounds. Earl Dow chipped in 20 tallies in the win.
