Cardinals, Bobcats End in 7-7 Deadlock If the homecoming crowd at Southwest Texas State was looking for a lot of scoring activity, they might as well have left after the opening play. Halfback Bobby -Iancik gathered in the opening kick-off and took off on a breathtaking trip to the SWT goal before the overflow crowd had a chance to settle in its seats. However, it was not until the very end of the game that the Cards could again pose a serious threat to the massive Bobcat ground forces. The Redbirds, due for an Hoff-day after win- ning four straight offensive struggles, could never muster a serious push. The Bobcats, meanwhile, rushed for 239 yards, climaxing in a 37 yard touchdown gallop by quarterback Dee White. With the score tied late in the game, the Birds summoned the arm of Windell Hebert to get them moving. After stopping a Bobcat threat at the 28, the slick Port Arthuran pitched a bullseye pass to fullback Ralph Stone and followed this with a fourth down pitch to Armour McManus to reach the Bobcat 28. Then with the clock showing only 5 seconds, extra-point specialist Walter Smith at- tempted a 36-yard field goal, true but short. The loss dropped the Cards from a first place LSC tie with Sam Houston.
