FQREWORD A long time before the arrival of 1960, writers and economists on a national level dropped the Soaring Sixties slogan. l-Iowever, the term most definitely seemed to apply to Lamar Tech as it entered the new decade. This was a year of dynamic newness for Tech . . . Students for the first time moved into the new Chemistry Building as well as the round Administration Build- ing, the Music-Speech Building and the glass Art Building . . . Fraternities and sororities occupied their own lodges for the first time . . . It was the year of LT Iubilee, our new spring activity . . . A modern and effective Student Association Constitution was adopted . . . New organizations and activities were part of 1960 . . Yearly events began to achieve the status of annual events, and certain traditional elements, so important to any institution, were maniliest. The important X-Factor behind Lamar Tech, l96O, was you, the Student. If Lamar truly did Soar into the Sixties, it was because you wanted it to and helped itg for your actions totally dominate the character and mood of Lamar Tech. You may let it lie dormant or give it enormous vitality . . . Most certainly, you chose the latter in 1960 . . The purpose of an annual is to give you a complete record of the school year. Every page in this book represents a segment of l959-60. The Freshness of the stylized drawings and the boldness of the colors used were chosen to enhance our theme: LAMAR TECH - 196O.
