Beta Tau, the Lamar Tech chapter, was installed to help promote art at Lamar Tech and in the com- munity. The chapter holds art shows, gives art lectures in area high schools, and sponsors one man shows on the campus. Field trips and liilms are used to supplement the creative work of the inemhers. Betty jo Smith, Lola Lemltowitz, I-Iank Smith, and Robert Gumaer learned how a parachute could bc converted into a survival hut. The Lamar Society of Civil Engineers, founded in 1956, furthcrs professional interest among civil engineering students and enhances the formal education of civil engineering students through belief in professional principals.
