GIRLS MODEL 0WN CREATIONS To learn to be good consumers, plan and prepare healthful meals, construct suitable garments, and handle successfully the needs of a family are the primary objectives of the home economics department. Clothing classes learn to choose the correct garments, designs, and patterns according to height and size, while the foods classes study nutrition, diet, and how to select groceries. Sharing their knowledge, the foods classes gave a party at Christmas for their mothers, teachers, and friends, and the clothing classes made bathrobes for the male pa- tients of M. D. Anderson Hospital. After a year's work of cutting, stitching, and pressing material and of selecting, cooking, and serving food, the girls are now venturing to cook and to sew on their own. A group of future homemakers visits Isabell Gerhart's to buy accessories for the dresses they themselves made. Smith, Mrs. Mary Carolyn Tate, Mr. H.
