Our Puplbeteefcf. . . Left: MRS. EDITH BOREN The Puppeteers are those who actually manipulate the puppets, they govern each action and gesture. Our office staff and faculty do an admirable job in this Field. Each one holds a position which is essential to the mechanics and smooth running of thc production. It is through Mrs. Ruth Leavell, the Dean, that Lamarites check in and out of school, in her office absentee reports are tallied, and messages are received for students. Mrs. Edith Boren and Mrs. Gwendolyn Koch, the Registrars, have the demanding job of keeping all permanent records, of sending grade transcripts and applications to colleges for seniors, and of checking class standings. Mrs. Alice Harrell, in the main office, acts as Mr. Wright's secretary, and runs the general school business and corre- spondence. With the able assistance of Mrs. Lorena Kobe and Mrs. Isabel Peden, the Clerks, such affairs as the balancing of money transfers, the safe-keeping of funds o' school organizations, and the care of general records are carried on. Mrs. Peden supervises the cafeteria cashiers, as well, and Mrs. Kobs is in charge of all mimeo- graphing. In the Guidance Office, Mrs. Ula Henncs anil Mrs. Rose B. Goodrich are always on hand to solve problems concerning four year plans. Here, a complete fi'c of college bulletins and requirements may be found, while all scholarships and applications go through this office, too. Also, important test records are kept on file here, and this busy place is responsible for administering and tabulating the results of the Otis Test. In each office, some of the duties are taken over by students. Earh oflice is equally Valuable, and without any one of them, this school could not function. MRS GXVENIIOLYN Kocu MRs. SUPERINTENDENT W. E. MORELAND We are very fortunate to have a superior Education Department, which supervises our school life so compentently and democratically. From the highest administrative posts on down, leaders may be found who are cooperative and thoroughly interested in their jobs and in us. At the downtown office, Mr. Moreland, our Superintendent, Mr. Webb, Assistant Superintendent, who is in charge of all high schools, and Mr. James Delmar, President of the Board of Education, are all hard at work, constantly planning and devoting valuable time and eI'l'ort to the entire educational department of the Houston Public School System. Under them, the department su- pervisors function. The division of responsibility makes it possible for these department heads to do a very thorough job. Each one is a capable expert in his Field and this makes for greater efficiency, more expert guidance, and more effective execution of plans and programs. Through these supervisors, we obtain much of our modern equipment, as well as our up-to-date curriculum and textual material. Through our Parent-Teacher Association and the Lamar Activities Club, we obtain many wonderful gifts. The Parent-Teacher Association is responsible for the long-needed fans in the cafeteria, the milk bar on the first floor, the lovely tea given each fall to honor our faculty, and of course, the Open House at which parents and teachers meet to cement the important relations between family and school. The Lamar Activities Club makes it possible for us to follow our football team to the games on trains and busses, and to enter speech tournaments over the state. Through their outstanding officers both of these organi- zations work to make Lamar better and better. MR. J. A. MCBRIDE Vice-President, Activities Club MRS. G. E. KNo1.1.12 President, P.-T. A. MRS. J. G. HEARD Vice-President, P.-T. A. MR. E. M. SMITH President, Activities Club
