IN LOVING MEMORY OF DEFEAT Defeat is when you hang your head, Not from the loss of a ball-game or, Election, or the running of a race. Defeat is when you cry out to the world and there is no reply, When faith in the future is gone, and the promise of a better life is less than dim. When you have been betrayed by those you love, and lost In a world of numbers, when emotions are all but numb It stings the soul worse than Death; In Death, there is Hope, but in defeat, there is none. COURTNEY ANNE BELL C. Anne Bell was in a class by herself. She was always willing to give her all to everything she took part in. Anne was an Honor Student, N.E.D.T. Scholar, held membership in several school clubs, and was an outstanding member of the Varsity Basketball team. She was honored during her sophomore year by being chosen to the All-Conference team. Anne's memory will always linger with those who knew her. Her favorite expression Let's go to the lake , reflects her love of life. An unfaltering religious faith was obvious to even strangers. Anne was truly one of God's Children! 4
