Editor-in-Chief Assistant Editor Assistant Editor 'fd7)rfnA drU0 AddVH In this 1956-57 Elixir the annual staff of Lamar High School has attempted to set forth, in a pleasing fashion, the activities of our school yea.. This year has been a happy one filled with many memories of school events and activities. The memories of classes, ball games, dances, club activities, and the friendship of fellow students v ill be cherished among our fondest memories. As time moves onward, dimming the memories of our high school days, the annual staff hopes that this book will recall to your mind, faces almost forgotten, experiences almost o'ershadowed by newer ones, and happy associations of our days at Lamar High School. We 'Dedicate Zo Mrs. Thelma Beasley the 1957 edition of THE ELIXIR. Her unselfish love and loyal devotion to the school has won for Mrs. Beasley the high esteem of the students and the faculty. To know Mrs. Beasley is to love her because she welcomes everyone with a smile and is always ready to help in anyway she can. Her ability and patience in teaching us English will long be remembered and cherished. Class History look back, we can remem-day in September, 1953, when l st ; arthquake in the form of ht-eyed freshmen hit Lamar High School. The new high school building had just been completed, and we were proud to be the first freshman class to enter it. As a new life was beginning for us, we didn't want to miss any of it. Our homeroom teachers, Mrs. Dark and Mrs. Connor , were very kind and helpful; so we came through with flying colors. ie fall of 1954 arrived, and we found o u r s e 1 v e s sophomores. By this time we had seen all and knew all. At least we thought so until our homeroom teachers, Mr. Ray and Mrs. Whitaker, proved to us that we were not so smart. r‘;t' We remember for we had become juniors, and we rea „ forward to this year---junior class play, our class rings, and the Junior-Senior Banquet! With the help of our homeroom teachers, Mrs. Jove and Mrs. Brasington, a wonderful year passed for us. The fall of 1956 came were seniors. With the help of our sponsors, Mrs. Beasley and Mrs. Brasington, we made this gest and best year of all we had dropped in number students to thirty-three, we much to look forward to Senior play, our Senior tfip, and our Commencement were the most important mile posts along our journey this year. In years to come as we look back over our school days High, we shall remember the happiest and most wonderful our life.
