'Q With the close of the 1967-68 school year the pages that the old Lamar High School building has offered to history are completed. Since it was built in 1911, Lamar High has seen 3784 students gradu ate, the smallest class being that of 1911 with 18 graduates and the largest that of 1968 with 145. When the doors closed for the final time, the students took with them the knowledge LHS offered, and none will forget . . . 'Tis the sign ofthe true and the brave.

LAMAR HIGH SCHOOL-- AN OLD BUILDING OF WEATHERED BRICK, STONE AND WOOD, WHERE FOR FIFTY-SEVEN YEARS STUDENTS HAVE GATHERED TO LEARN, AND WHERE LIFE- TIME FRIENDSHIPS WERE MADE. HERE OLD TRADITIONS HAVE BEEN KEPT ALIVE--HERE NEW ONES HAVE BEEN CREATED AS THE CLASS OF 1968 TURNED AWAY FROM THIS BUILDING OF MEMORIES AS ITS LAST GRADUATES, THE UNDERCLASSMEN TURNED ALSO- TO A NEW BUILDING OF BRIGHT BRICK AND STONE, ONE WHERE THE OLD TRADITIONS WILL BE KEPT ALIVE WHILE NEW ONES WILL BE CREATED
