Three years of English are required for graduation. Many seniors elect to take English IV as it is always recommended or required for college entrance. During the Freshman and Sophomore years basic grammar and reading are stressed while in the Junior and Senior years the emphasis is on literature, theme writing and the development of reading power. Speech and Journalism is offered to juniors and sen- iors. Each is a semester course. The study of languages is also very important to the better understanding of the peoples of the world. Three years of Spanish and two of Latin are offered. English II students wait for the bell. .11 IMPORTANT IN LHS LIFE MRS, RUBY ETTER MRS. HARRIET WEBSTER MRS. DIXIE MUNRO B. S. , Panhandle A S1 M B.
