Page T emmlscmg A thousand memones and four years ago 106 Freshmen plodded up the steps of L U H S The year opened wrth Pep Club m1t1at1on for the glrls and FFA rmtratron for the boys B1ll May headed the trrbe wrth Dolores Dnskrll as hrs rlght hand man Several of us were chosen for parts rn the Freshman Sophomore play Smg for Your Supper We had two prcmcs that year After one we jorned with the Class of 48 for a swell dance And then we became Sophomoresl Rhea Ellenberger was elected presrdent Howard VVagner as vlce presrdent and Jack Alexander secretary treasurer Joe Elam Gabe Upton Barber DeHaven George Memll and Howard Wagner had the honor of bemg mrtlated mto L Club The Sophomore plav Junlor Mrss was an uproanous success Dorothv Clayton was elected Basketball Queen at the Pep Clubs Lad and Lassre Ball We began our umor Year wlth determrnatron lookmg forward to the hlghllghts of thls year our Prom and Camrval The Camrval was outstandrng wlth many added attractxons The money from our Camrval and our Jumor play A Case of Spnngtrme was used to forward the success of the annual Jun1orSenror prom grven rn honor of the Semors The theme Grpsy Serenade was garlv camed out by bnght colors and grpsy motrfs rn the ballroom The banquet hall was shadowed wlth llght from the candled wme bottles A strmg quartet serenaded us wrth soft muslc dunng our meal All rn all thls was the crownmg event of the year' Don Cass Jack Steward Tom Sallee Myron Cassrdy Curtts Gentry Jack Alexander and Le Roy Don Cass brought honor to the class by attendmg the State Track meet Howard Wagner led us bravely through thx: busv vear as Presldent wrth Dorothv Clayton and Rhea Ellenberger as hrs helpers Chosen for the Natronal Honor Socrety were Joy Shank Bob Sweat and oyce Bowman The Junror year was clrmaxed by the electron of Rhea Ellenberger and Howard VVagner as head glrl and boy Blddlng goodby to the Class of 48 the Class of 49 stepped mto therr shoes to leave therr footsteps ln the sands of trme Leadrng our band through thexr last year rn L U H S was Judy Cameo Myron Cassidy Alma Colyar and Joy Shank One October evenmg hrlanous volces were heard chanting school songs as the Seniors clamored aboard for a hay rack nde By the Lrght of the Szlvery Moon our annual Semor Formal opened our soeral year It was a gala affarr Jovce Jenluns was crowned football queen by the football captarns dunng our homecomxng game wrth La Junta Two other members of our group recewed cox eted honors Alma Colyar who won the DAR award and Burton Vrckers who was glven an alternate appolntment to Annapolrs And agam this year Bob Emrck Jerry Kllduff Tom Barnhan Burton Vrckers J T Claybrook and Gene Denman were taken lI1tO L Club The Semor play and assembly were two other mayor events of the vear At the txme thrs IS bemg wntten II IS too early to detemune the name of the Semor Play or the members of the Natronal Honor Socrety who wrll be chosen from the Sen1o1 Class The frnal scene of our hlgh school career ends wrth Baccalaureate and Commencement Though our paths may be far apart we wrll always have a warm spot m our hearts for L U H S and the many lessons ln lrfe lt has taught us And here we dedrcate all the happlness we have had to those who wrll follow rn our footsteps CLASS COLORS Red and Gold CLASS FLOWl:R Tahsman Roses GLASS Morro It s not how long you l1ve But how well you live JUDY Camuco MYRON Cassrov CHARLES CHILTON Doaorl-rv CLAYTON JACK ALEXANDER Q O O , . . . . , . . . . . ,, ,, X V l . .4 .
