The outdoor pep rally and car bash sponsored by the cheerleaders and the Interact Club re- pectively, set the mood for the coming oc- casion. Mums, dresses, and new hairstyles be- came the main interests for the girls, while the football boys contemplated on the big game which ended in such a bitter defeat. The music of the Zap Rythm Band moved mixed emotions into motion at the dance following the game. Measured by those everlasting stretchy jumps, strenuous exercises and lovable, breathless runs - the hidden talents of many prevail within the PE department, But when that final satisfaction is reached, those aching, sore muscles throughout the body get the blessed moment of rest. With the redis- covery of wire rims came starry studs, rows of hair braids, odd looking shoes and even a pair from across the world. Hair goes to any and all extremes while watches simply turn up in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Sock-covered heads and frostbitten ears spent selected time satisfying their child-like desires. Preparation for the game began with a week of workout for the players where they were briefed on game stra- tegy and secret techniques. Mean- while both teams' cheerleaders and twirlers practiced on their various rou- tines for the pep rally and half time shows. The final score kept with the vic- tory tradition as the Super Chicks stomped the Juniors. This was a story ofthe Jewish children in the concentration camp - Terizin. Kathy Durham was best actress in district, and Paul Oldmixon, Rickie Reynolds, and Donn Miller were named to the All-Star Cast. Also, Kathy was named to the All-Star Cast in regional competition and Paul re- ceived Honorable Mention. Their director was Mrs. Alma Salwinski. -w One-Act trophy won at district competition. Varsify Tries For Sfafe It was an outstanding year for the Varsity Volleyball team. With an undefeated district season, their hopes for State Championship were high. Spiking over Beeville at By-district playoffs and Alvin at Regional, gave them State Championship fever. At the State play-offs, Irving de- feated them, so again a strong Mustang team had failed to acquire the State Championship trophy. With half of the Varsity team and a strong I.
