Band is filled with a little sweat from marching, the fun of pep rallies, rainy football games, long bus trips, the relief of finally taking off those hot uniforms, and best of all, moving into the new band hall. Illness and injuries kept the starting lineup on the bench with sub-varsity players replacing them. A 15- 17 record and a 4th place in the district are the records of the season that finished the high school careers of these five seniors: Mason Briscoe, John Bell, Cliff Randle, Allison Jackson and T. Varsify Tries For Sfafe It was an outstanding year for the Varsity Volleyball team. With an undefeated district season, their hopes for State Championship were high. Spiking over Beeville at By-district playoffs and Alvin at Regional, gave them State Championship fever. At the State play-offs, Irving de- feated them, so again a strong Mustang team had failed to acquire the State Championship trophy. With half of the Varsity team and a strong I. V. team remaining, next year's hopes for State Championship are as high as this year's. VARSITY COACH: Lenora Abston ww.. . ,V f s V, i ,, H ,, I ' ' ' i vs , ,L ' 1 Q 'W - I. ' V V. OPPONENT . Involvement is a keyword for Teens Aid the Retarded, a group of young people who are Willing to give a portion of their life and a few minutes of their time to children a little less fortunate than they. Through various meetings after school, the TARS planned parties and get-togethers for the D State School residents and held a five mile Walk-a-thon to raise money and get the community involved in helping the mentally retarded. According to TARS members, the per- sonal satisfaction received from this club more than makes V up for the sacrifices made. TARS meetings were held after school in the choir room.
