'EE' In Memoriam James Melvin Shultz, I6, died from an accidental gunshot wound while hunting in a wooded area east of Risingsun. The accident happened Friday, December 6, late in the afternoon. Wayne'Essex, l7, a neighbor and a friend of Jim's, was hunting with him. Essex said they had entered the wooded area to hunt when he saw the 20 gauge shotgun fall from under Shultz's right arm. It discharged when it struck the ground, and the shot entered the youth's chest. He died about an hour later from hemorrhage in the Fostoria City Hospital. Jim is the son of Herschel and Mildred Shultz, Risingsun and was born September 16, 1947. He was a iunior in the Lakota High School. Surviving are his parents, a brother Gerald Paul, U. S. Navy, sisters, Judy Ann, Janice Kay, Jacqueline Sue and another brother, Joe Lee, paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Shultz, Risingsun and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Snyder of Wayne. The deceased's brother Gerald, was scheduled to dock at Norfolk, West Virginia on Tuesday following a cruise aboard the transport ship Chilton in the Caribbean Sea. He was able to arrive moments before the funeral services. The funeral was Tuesday, December 10 at the St. Paul's EUB Church, Risingsun, with Rev. Clarence Carnahan officiating. Burial was in Bradner Cemetery with Sage Funer- al Home, Bradner, in charge of arrangements.
