K LAKIN HIGH SCHOGL LAKIN, KANSAS VOLUME 26 The 1970-71 school year has been one of many changes for LLH .S . These changes are not physi- cally noticeable but socialogically they are outstanding. L.H.S. has become a common ground upon which the most conservative and the most liberal persons can share their philosophies and yet retain their individuality. For those of us who have experi- enced the 1970-71 year at L.l-l.S. firsthand, there are countless mem- oriesg it is the goal of the annual staff to keep these memories alive for all. The seventies bring many challenges for all of us. Each one of us must find this challenge that fits our desires and needs for these times. I hope your time spent at Lakin High School will be of value in helping you make these decisions in the years ahead. JS-Qwfwfy sv-M M: K' , . BOARD OF EDUCATION QL-RQ Harland Burrows, jack Campbell, Wallace Kuhlman, Dorrell George, Shirley Stinchcomb, Dick Brown, Merl Rider, Edward Wiatt, Clyde Belt. 6 I trust that this has been an enjoy- able and profitable school year for all of you. To the seniors, bon voyage and suc- cess at whatever venture they pursue. To the underclassmen I hope that education continues to provide some of the answers for which they are looking or at least gives them an insight into the complexi- ties of life. To be or not to be, that is the ques- tion. The responsibilities for what each of us is or is to become is ours and ours alone. We are responsible for our ac- tions whether they be good or bad. There- fore, the worn out phrase that I am what I am because of someone else's faults or failures is pure fallacy for the most part. Thus, we are all who we are because of our own efforts--we are basically who we are because we want to be the way we are. I hope that your high school exper- iences help provide you with the know- ledge and perception, along with your own initiative and sense of responsibility, to be a benefactor to society. Without this cheery-faced secretary, Twila Smith, L.H.S. could never make it through the year. L Working behind the scenes and being a great help is Marcella McVey, secretary to Mr. George. Q .
