Debate Club Debate: a formal contest in argumentation, a dis- cussion of any question or dispute. Debating is an art. And the members of the Lakewood Society of Debate are masters of the forensic artg something one will discover very quickly if he should attempt to cross words with an LSD member. This year the club sponsored its second annual Harry Miller Memorial debate tournament at LHS. The club has participated in many similar debate tourna- ments and speech festivals in New jersey. Its fund-raising campaigns and Chi1dren's Theater are well-known events. Its major and most important contribution is, of course, its plays. This year they presented. American Field Service The American Field service raises money from their tag day and cake sales to bring a foreign exchange student to Lakewood High. This year's exchange student is Geir Bakka, from Norway. The highlight of the year is the spon- sorship of an A.F.S. weekendg it is at this time that exchange students and their American brothers and sisters visit L.H.S.
