Student Council Aims for Cooperation, Progress Page 18 Meeting the challenge of self-government, Student Council, headed by the Executive Council and advised by Miss Cope, promoted student-faculty cooperation and provided an opportunity for students to express personal opinions. Student Council funds Were used to sponsor the AFS student, school parties and dances, class field trips, buses to away-games, and the purchase of an activities bulletin board. Decorating the Christmas tree in the L-Room provides opportunity for friendship and trolic for experienced senior staff members Socical Council Promotes All-School Festivity Social Council has successfully completed its second year of existence. Under the Valuable guidance of Mrs. Bachman, Social Council has provided better planned, and thus, better attended school parties. The fall Hootenanny Haunt combined folk singing, square dancing, and ghost hunting. Winter Whirl took party-goers on an ocean cruise and Visits to foreign countries. A Roaring Twentiesn theme sparked gay romance, Charleston, Big Apple, and Black Bottom at the annual spring Twirp dance. Audience claps and taps in rhythm to the tune of This Old Man, sung by a popular folk-singing trio at the Hootenanny Haunt party Page 20
