Only through understanding will the problems of the world be solved, and public education can, if giv- en the chance, play an important part in solving those problems. Such is the belief of Mr. Paul A. Rehmus, superintendent, in an interview with a Cin- ema reporter. Looking into the future, he hopes to see public education broadened and improved. Al- though Lakewood has advanced tremendously in this direction, he believes every school in the country should have a varied curriculum and many extra- curricular activities with an opportunity for students to concentrate in one field of study. Schools should cultivate in students an awareness of the community and a desire to serve it. No one is truly happy, stated the superintendent, unless he is serving oth- ers. Mr. Rehmus himself is a fine example of his own philosophy. His life work is serving others. Page 28 School We ' ' ' nalanf Paul Q Hehmu, Smiling and friendly, Mr. Paul A.
