A Democracy of Thoughts Language is more than simply an instrument for intelli- gent communication with our fellovvmen. Its utility as the primary lever of thought is its greatest contribution to civilization. Civilization is based upon our relations with other humans g language is the concrete expression of ephemeral ideas. The progress of our civilization depends upon the interchange of these ideas which is made possible by the vocal expression of the symbols We consider our lan- guage. Of all the languages English is known to be the most pliable for shaping thoughts into words.
