Senzor Class H :story ln September of 1939 only three of our present class came trottmg up he steps of Lakevxlle School These three were Lucllle McKmley Charlene Anderson and Leo Tope In the followmg years we ga1ned and lost puplls and now have a total of seven We struggled through our fxrst sxx years under the good teachxng of Mrs Stevens tn the lst and Znd grades Mrs Franks mn the 3rd grade and Mrs Dxlgard ln the 4th 5th and 6th grades The only blg event we can remember of happemng to us ln our fxrst xx years 15 mght school ln the 4th grade lt was somethmg new for us and we enjoyed lt Upon entermg Jumor Hugh we felt very grown up We were rather clnsap pomnted when they took the Jumor Hlgh grades from the hugh school room the very year we were plannlng to move xnto lt In our Jun1or Hlgh years we took part Ln Chrxstmas plays Mr Claugus was our home room teacher ln our Freshman year a blg event happened to us whlch was 1mt1at1on We thought that we got tt a httle hard but we had lots of fun out of xt Ne were dxsappomted when they dldn t gnve us an xmtiatxon party There was a dance at the schoolhouse that nlght and they made us dance by ourselves Mr Franks treated us to an xce cream bar Our next year we had more fun 1n1t1at1ng the Freshman Class Ne had a party for them that nxght Contests and games were played and refreshments served We were very happy when we ordered our class rtngs and got them by Chrtstmas ln our Freshman and Sophomore years Mr Claugus took us on sclence and biology tr1ps to the museum m Columbus zoo near Newark strlp mmmng near Walnut Creek and O Shaughnessy Dam near Delaware We also went on qulte a few hikes nn btology and sclence We had to get 1nsects and tree twtgs and mount them most of us hked domg th1s proigect Lucxlle McK1nley and Charlene Anderson took part 1n the declamat1on contest mn the1r Sophomore year and got to go to Kxllbuck for the county contest Lucllle gettxng ln the fmals and selhng Christmas cards to make money for our crowd for our .Tumor play JUST DUCKY and all also gave xt at the McZena Commumty House We Semors at the Francxs Coffee Shop xn Ashland We were very busy ln our Jumor year wlth the 5 h We spent a lot of work for our seml formal ban. dlsappomted when the Semor glrls dld not wear forrr them that mght at the schoolhouse We also had a b The Buckeye Ramblers of Loudonvmlle played for us the fact that we made money on our Chrxstmas card Gxndlesberger took part tn the one act play gxven at 1t at the county contest at Nashvtlle and were rated e was rated second hxghest in the contest Charlene F and Leo Tope took part m the Semor Class play that and Charlene Anderson were cheerleaders mn themr J partxclpated m the htgh school band which has just saxophone and Charlene the bass drum Our class nng the summer the b1gge st tlung bemg goxng to Euc U H U ! , . . . , .
