Griswold. The Lakeville Varsity Basketball team composed of students from three high schools , Otter Lake, Otisville, and Columbiaville, started their first season together successfully with a season record of twelve wins and three losses. They were tied for second place in the Genesee Class C Conference. As a unit, the team worked well together and were a strong contender for the Conference lead. They lost two games in the Conference, each by one point. Some of the outstanding varsity players were Emeret Marston, top scorer of the Falcons, Gary Sanford, Bill Bird, Larry Griswold, Don Cregar, Charles Laing, Clare Hollister, Marvin Strong, Virgil Iune and Bill Burgess. Some of the outstanding under- classmen who were put on the varsity in the latter stages of the season were Dick Powers, Dick Renusch, Curt Fackler, Gary Kerr, and Don Begley. These boys who for the first time worked as a team, deserve a lot of praise and credit for a job well done. The Lakeville team was entered in the Class C District Tournament played in Millington. Drawing a bye for the first round, they were then matched against North Branch in the semifinals. The Falcons came through with a win 58-54 and met Marlette in the finals. The Iunior Varsity Basketball team finished their season with eleven wins and four losses. They ended the season, second in the conference. They did not lose a game in 1956. High scorer for the team was Richard Renusch. Top rebounders were Gary Kerr and Donald Begley. The playmakers were Dick Powers and Gordon Collier.
