'AL weaned tion We, the staff of the Falcon, respectfully dedicate this first publication to the parents , and residents of the former Otisville, Columbiaville, Otter Lake and the various rural school areas for their realizing the necessity of consolidation, and therefore for their bringing into being Lakeville. We also wish to thank the former school boardrmembers of the many districts who gave up their positions, and gave their utmost support, so that we, the students of Lakeville, could have a better education and have a better school. We hope this small volume will satisfactorily express our appreciation. Qoarc! of gcfucatwn Archie Hunter, Clyde Ross, Arthur Elliott, Elma Blue, Laurence Lyon President ........... We had quite a few problems to iron out before we could expect to have a ball club. It took time but the fellows from the three schools did a good job of adjusting themselves to the situation. They started to work as a team midway in the season and as a result won three of the last four games . Larry Griswold was elected captain of the squad and proved to be a very capable leader. Letter winners this year are as follows: Seniors: Bill Bird, Bill Burgess, Dick Carpenter, Wallace Coe, Ierry Hoffman, Larry Griswold, Charles Edwards, Charles Laing, Virgil Iune, Ellison Roach, Iim Lenz and Bill Woodrow. Juniors: Ernest McGaffey, Bill Moritz, Marvin Strong and Keith Ward. Sophomores: Don Cregar, Clyde Harris, Dick Powers, Paul Powers, Stanley Finowski. The Lakeville Varsity Basketball team composed of students from three high schools , Otter Lake, Otisville, and Columbiaville, started their first season together successfully with a season record of twelve wins and three losses. They were tied for second place in the Genesee Class C Conference. As a unit, the team worked well together and were a strong contender for the Conference lead. They lost two games in the Conference, each by one point. Some of the outstanding varsity players were Emeret Marston, top scorer of the Falcons, Gary Sanford, Bill Bird, Larry Griswold, Don Cregar, Charles Laing, Clare Hollister, Marvin Strong, Virgil Iune and Bill Burgess. Some of the outstanding under- classmen who were put on the varsity in the latter stages of the season were Dick Powers, Dick Renusch, Curt Fackler, Gary Kerr, and Don Begley. These boys who for the first time worked as a team, deserve a lot of praise and credit for a job well done. The Lakeville team was entered in the Class C District Tournament played in Millington. Drawing a bye for the first round, they were then matched against North Branch in the semifinals. The Falcons came through with a win 58-54 and met Marlette in the finals. In a well played game the Falcons were defeated 70-68. High scorer for the team was Richard Renusch. Top rebounders were Gary Kerr and Donald Begley. The playmakers were Dick Powers and Gordon Collier.
