Table of Contents In Memoriam Seniors juniors Freshmen Administration and Faculty Academics Activities School Life Advertising 11 In Memoriam E. F. Dietrich, M.D. 1906 - 1974 Doctor Dietrich joined the Lake View Medical Staff in 1933. ln addition to his large private practice, he was active on many medical staff committees. He served for a number of years as Chief of Surgery. On two different occasions, he was President of the Medical Staff. Doctor Dietrich took a special pride in the School of Nursing. He served faithfully as teacher and as physi- cian to the students. Doctor Dietrich's skill, dedication and warmth are missed. He was an inspiration to every student. We, the yearbook staff, wish to dedicate The Paragon 1974, in memoriam to Dr. J. L. Gulick and Dr. E. P. Dietrich, with comments by Austin J. Evans, Administrator of Lake View Memorial Hospital. I. L. Gulick, M.D. 1934 - 1973 Doctor Gulick joined the Lake View Medical Staff in 1960. He quickly became a champion of the School of Nursing and its students. Doctor Gulick liked to teach. He had the ability to present complex information in a simple manner. Further, whenever a student would benefit from a clinical experience, Doctor Gulick was on hand day or night. Doctor Gulick's most recent contribution to educa- tion was the establishment of the East Central lllin- ois Medical Education Foundation. This organiza- tion will provide a three-year family practice residency for young doctors. Doctor Gulick tackled this assignment with the same enthusiasm he brought to every task. SENIORS Class of '74 I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it. For I shall not pass this way again. 17 CAROLE SPROLL BOND Wellington, Illinois PRISCILLA BA RKMAN Danville, Illinois KATHY ARTHION FLEXSER Danville, Illinois SUSAN BLUMHA RD T Danville, Illinois KAREN EMERY Danville, Illinois SA LLY GAY Danville, Illinois MA RJORIE LANCASTER Urbana, Illinois MARIE Sl-IEDLOCK FOX Danville, Illinois fvdr-H WA NDA LA NDSDOWN Rossville, Illinois ELLEN JONES Catlin, Illinois V Ii -rl -L RUTH MCKE LVE Y Danville, Illinois MARTHA MARTIN LOCKETT Urbana, Illinois S.. And tears fall as I pray. Dear God unworthy though I am, I ask one thing of Thee. Bless the one I love tonight, Please help him to remember me. Dear God, he is only human, you know, And so when the day is done, I-Ie may be lonely too, as I am, And to no other one, It seems I can no longer go to him, And take him in my hands But God, you can go to him, And make him understand. just help him keep me inside his heart, Till the day we meet again. And though we're far apart, I love him God. Amen!! 4 y RESOLVE T0 KEEP HAPPY Ile happy, talk happiness. Happiness calls out responsive gladness in others.
