On March 9, President Johnson presents the Medal of Honor to Spec. 6 Lawrence loel, the first medic to win the nation's highest award for military gallantry. 2. In October, thousands of anti4Vietnam-war protest marchers descended on Washington, D. C. and created scenes like this at the mall entrance of the Pentagon, 3. Astronauts Virgil I. Grissom, Edward H. White and Roger B. Chaffee died at Cape Kennedy on January 27 when fire broke out in their Apollo capsule. 11. On September 9, Debra Dene Barnes, Moran, Kan- sas, was chosen Miss America 1968. Debra was the second Miss Kansas in a row to win this high honor. 5. This young lady is holding six pieces of highereso- lution film, called chips, developed by IBM.
