In Memory of Alan Bures h On November 13, 1973, Lake- view suffered the loss of Alan Bu- resh who was killed in a hunting accident. His memory will always be with us. Alan was an energetic young man who enjoyed hunting, friends, and life. His mother brought him to the baptismal fount to receive eternal life. In his tragic, un- timely death, we all cling to the hope of his eternal life. Alan ful- filled a part of God's plan which providentially leads all of us toward fulfillment of our own lives. Steve Gehring led the team in 8 out of 10 categories. He broke one school record--most points in one game (37). Steve made First Team All- Conference and Honorable Mention All-State. Jim Pillen was the team leader and floor quarterback of the team. Jim averaged 14 points per game and broke a season assist record (118). He was also All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-state. Rick Thomas will rank as one of the five best guards in the area next year. He is a great defensive player and al- though he didn't shoot much still averaged over 10 points per game. Dar- rel Rickert is our garbageman —not real flashy but always got the job done. Darrel had the highest percentage in field goals (58%) of the team. Our fifth starting position was held by Skip Oehlrich most of the year but Pat Coan and Jon Wurdeman started several games also. Wendall Korte also started five games which shows good team depth. The 73-74 Vikings played excellent team defense, holding 10 op- ponents under 50 points. Highlights of the year were Conference, Holiday and Conference Play-Off Champs. We had the first win ever over Scotus, winning the game by 14 points. Four losses were by two points or less. Rebounds were led by August Runge, Tim Koch and Larry Kapels. Gene Brandt and Jim Jarosz led the Freshmen in scoring for the young basketball boys.
