THIS BOOK IS DEDICATED TO “DOC” FORD, A FRIEND OF STUDENTS. Superintendent Dr. James Ford, more commonly and affectionately known to Lakeview High School students and members of the community for the past 16 years os Doc Ford, has resigned ot the end of the 1986-87 school year. Dr. Ford has occepted a position in the Ludington School system. He will be missed by all who hove come in contact with him over the past 16 years. In the early 70 s, o friend of Doc Ford's had complimented Lakeview so highly, that when Ooc heard of a principalship open here, he con- tacted his friend to make sure his compliments were well founded. With added reassurance, Doc visited Lakeview, and fell in love with the small town. Doc, his wife, Doris, and their 3 children, Julie, Steve, and Polly moved to Lakeview. The children have since grown up and moved away. Doc has seen the school undergo some changes during these past yeors. Vocational programs were underway, but with Doe’s help, they were set up so they would meet state requirements for state vocational certification. Another change took ploce. In 1980 Ford became superinten- dent of Lakeview Community Schools. At the time he assumed the position he olso assumed a school district with financial problems. With help from the community, school employees, and others, Doc has been ot the helm os Lakeview Community Schools has overcome those problems ond has rebuilt to the point of being better staffed with more program offerings, and also will see performance objectives supplied to parents to give them an overview of their child's years in Lokeview's school system. This project had been in plonning for 5 years. Structurally Ford has seen the Elementary school odd 5 rooms, some middle school renovations, and additional upgrading of all school facilities. Doc has been cooch to mony athletes at Lakeview. He has coached girls volleyball for 5 yeors, girls track for 5 years, as well os having coached in other sports during the past 16 yeors. Mony of Lakeview's future athletes will miss his love of sports. Doc's support, guidance, and genuine interest in the students here at Lakeview High School through all the years won't ever be forgotten. We wish you the best. Doc.
