There hove been several firsts for the band since Mr Gilbert's employment The bond performed its first holftime show in total dorkness, with glowstkks, much to the delight of the audience The bond was rewarded in their effort ond hard work with the purchase of band jackets which proudly display the Wildcat symbol. The band also was priveleoged to occept on invitation from the Central Mont colm Band to morch at their invitational. The Wildcat Bond received comments ond a ploque to show for their hard work. On May 13, the bond hod the outstanding honor and pleasure to play at our state's capital, Lansing, Michigan The Lokeview Bond Boosters mode it possible for the band students to travel to Hostings, Michigan to try a new type of band camp. At the comp, the students put some of Mr. Gilbert's fresh ideas into use. What excKtly is Homecoming? Is it just o certain week where people oct funny and wear weird clothes? Or is it just trodition? It is all of that and much more! Homecoming hos been a tradition at Lokeview High School for os long as anyone can recoil. H is a week in the student s life when they con have a lot of fun during smool ond create a lot of great memories Homecoming '87 at lakeview High School started Monday, September 29. During this week the school become ex- tremely divided os the doss competition began the knock-down drag out fight to find out which wos the Superior doss. It all began with the attendance competition during the day, which the Freshmen -rook first in. Those Freshmen just love school don’t they? Mock Olympics was held Monday evening. Students competed in relay roces, scavenger hunt, bubble gum blowing contest, preliminary tug-of-war, baby food eating contest, ond “fill the circle with as many class members os possible . Juniors prevailed at the Mock Olympics ceremony. Tuesday wos hot, sunglasses, ond T-shirt competition. On Wednesday, there was dash nerd competition where the students mode fashion statements about themselves by coming up with the craziest of outfits. Thursday's dress was Maui Day. Students dressed in beoch or Hawoiin clothes. At the end of the day, the volleyball preliminary competition began During halftime of the Givis' Varsity Basketball game, the finals of the tug-of-war was held. Friday wos “Spirit Day , where students dressed in traditional blue and gold. In the afternoon, a pep ossembly was held to boost the moral and spirit of the Vorsity Football team. Finals for the volleyballtournoment were held in which the Juniors surged on to a mignty victory! The last ond find competition wos the fight song competition where eoch doss hod to sing the fight song from memory and the loudest class won. Well, the Seniors seemed to be mouthiest and they won the competition, and therefore dinching the Superior class title. Friday evening, the Lakeview Wildcats vs. Portland Roiders game turned into a tremendous victory for the Wildcats as Lakeview downed Portland 27-0. During halftime. Homecoming King ond Queen were crowned. LHS 1987 Homecoming King and Queen were Jason Dey and Dede Stokely. Fdlowing the game was the Homecoming Victory Donee.
