Be- sides his regular classroom activities, he coaches cross country and in years past was also the track coach. He is easy to find at all football and basket- ball games because he collects tickets. To encourage interest in science, he has traveled with his students to the Red- stone Arsenal in Huntsville, gone cave exploring and has even risked his neck tubing down the Hiwassee. He lives up to his name of being a hard 'n, but his students find his classes lively and instructive. He is an excellent teacher because he cares enough to give his students that little extra. nf' A rt? x -jff! f V. ' ' J ...D I-uiyrj ..-L-J--'If L-'fag , 'ff G-JJ , 'Y' J A., , - ., . Dedication surpdses Miss McMahan Hour yearbook sponsor The '77 WARRIOR Staff chose to dedicate our yearbook to a man, Ben Hardin and a lady, Sharon McMahan, assistant principal. Miss McMahan is bet- ter known as the little lady in the big black chair waiting to hear all of your excuses as to why you were late, why you skipped sixth period, or why you wanted to check out. But there are many other things Miss NlcIVlahan does. She is' the sponsor for our annual, which can prove to be a big has- sle, but alot of fun. Miss Nic- , lVlahan also had a big part in our changing to the quarter system. Miss IVlcMahan shows her con- cern for students by listening to their problems and always coming up with a solution. 2144+ aw M A m ww M w ww .W 9 f-1 ,---1 f f 47- 1 X . vt l 1 x ,, My f X. ,fs Homecoming returns to the Old South On October 8, memories ofthe Old South were brought back to life when the candidates and sponsors were brought on to the field in horse-drawn wagons. As tension filled the air, everyone awaited the announcement ofthe Homecoming Queen. The new queen, Debbie Beasley, was so surprised and happy that she jumped up in the air and sent her hoop skirt flying. Then Tim Nlichaels burst through the paper hoop to be proclaimed lVIr Warrior. The evening was brought to a climax with the traditional Homecoming Dance following the game. rw-.N-....,,,,.. .fd qip-ffyfv, if I r,-V.: M ,ft WSW' ' J:-9 : :L'!,.'.-7F'g'lQ4 . -NTI. Ninth graders changed from semester to the quarter system and for the first time the freshmen class elected class officers. Freshmen stood in line for registration and prayed they would get six classes. They spent a' lot of time asking for directions-to the bathroom, the bookstore, the cafeteria, and the gym. They also made corny jokes about changing from Brown to Black. The ninth graders finished the year -in their usual form by getting lost at Six Flags. ' Brown to Black! are the first Warrior Staff to ever complete all of their deadline on time. We enjoyed goofing off, having pizza parties, eating ice cream cakes, and even getting lost in Chattanooga, didn't we Stan? But we have definitely worked very, very hard. Although lVliss lVlclVlahan couldn't make it to class much, she was an inspiration to all of us to prove vve could reach all our deadlines. We wanted to in ..... Wa, 1 151522 ' if if: 'ep if 2. make her proud of us and we hope we have accomplished this. As editor, I would like to express my thanks to everyone who has worked hard on the staff. You have all made my life so much more meaningful and I love you all. l would also like to thank lVIarv lVIartin, our yearbook representative for all of his patience and understanding to help make our book even better. E. K it hu -P ! 2 Hooray! We're finished!! Several people worked very hard all year long to complete the '77 Warrior such as lVIitzi Randles, editor, L nda Stephens, Libby Beckmann, 'llina Burr, Pam Foster, Karla Holland Vicki Parks, Stan White, Elissa lVIorrison, Sherry Stone, Cathy Cooper, and Tammy Quinton. Others who helped this year were Ricky Beckmann, Chuck Bilbra, Debbie Broome, lVIary Brumley, Dianna Cooke, Brenda Forster, Tommy Franklin, Mike Jenkins, Sheila Thacker, and Debbie Wooden. Dianne Fitzgerald and Pam Waters also helped out with the artwork. Barry, and other photographers from Olan M lls Trying to divide myself among my schoolwork, my friends, my family, participation in c ubs, newspaper work, my job, and t e yearbook was quite a challenge I could not have faced alone. I was supported by a very well gua ified staff that I could epend upon, for they were my frien s. IVIy mother also became a devoted staff member. She spent many days running errands for me. When a problem arose, she was there with a solution which usually involved her time as well as money I want to especia ly thank her. There were many days when I had to go to school all day, then to my job, then home to work on the yearbook, and then return to school the next day without any sleep. One verse in particular gave me encouragement and I would like to share it with you: I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. xo .Lu L ,, , I I ...K fs . ,, . I' ,-' X. , !
