The basic idea in planning the '67 WARRIORhas been the creation of a book that will meet these re- quirements. The staff hopes you will begin reading the history of this year with a great deal of antici- pation. When you close the book, it is hoped that you will have reaped a profit of renewed memories of Lakeview High School. z CONTENTS Organizations. . . 108 t Activities. . . 130 Advertisements . . 146 3 dedication MR. David Wells scored one touchdown and passed to Dennis Cobb for another. Wayne Metcalf inter- cepted a pass and returned the ball 49 yards for a touchdown. Jack Whisenant and Bubba Sim- mons were standouts for the defense. LA REVIEW.............................13 RINGGOLD...............................6 Lakeview defeated the Ringgold Tigers in one of the most thrilling games of the season. The first touchdown was scored by Connie Kellerhals in the third quarter. Ringgold then tied the score midway in the fourth quarter. With less than a minute left, Ikey Torbett blocked a punt attempt by Ringgold and enabled the Warriors to get another touchdown. LAKEVIEW.............................21 GORDON LEE............................7 David Wells threw three touchdown passes to lead the Warriors in an easy victory over the Gordon Lee Trojans. Johnny Thompson took the first pass with Connie Kellerhals getting the last two. Butch Hannah added the three extra points. Gordon Lee scored late in the fourth quarter. 94 LAKEVIEW 13 CALHOUN..................................6 The Warriors took their fourth straight triumph of the season with second and fourth period touch- downs. Eddie Graham ran 55 yards for a touch- down, and Jack Whisenant made the second score with a 65 yard run with a pass interception. The Calhoun Jackets scored in the fourth quarter on a 45 yard pass play. LAKEVIEW.............................14 LAFAYETTE............................12 Lakeview came from behind in the last three minutes to defeat the LaFayette Ramblers. Eddie Graham scored in the first quarter. LaFayette then scored. In the fourth quarter the Ramblers took the lead. With 2:01 remaining in the game David Wells provided the Warriors' second touch- down on a quarterback sneak. Butch Hannah's two extra points provided the winning margin. LAKEVIEW...............................7 MURRAY COUNTY.........................13 The Murray County Indians ruined Lakeview's hopes of an undefeated season. The Warriors’ only score came on a pass from David Wells to Connie Kellerhals. Butch Hyde kicked the extra point. Roy Vanderslice and Ikey Torbett stood out on defense. This was Lakeview's first loss in six games. 95 Lakeview bounced back and scored 27 points in the first half of the game against the Ooltewah Owls. A pair of touchdown runs by David Wells, one by David Cooper, and a 42 yard pass to Connie Kellerhals from Rick Bowen accounted for the Warriors' scoring. Ooltewah scored once in both the third and fourth quarters. The Warriors kept the Dalton Catamounts from clinching the Region 7-AA title by dead- locking one of the hardest fought games of the season. The score was tied and only 2:35 re- mained in the game when Frank Wall scored for the Warriors and Butch Hannah kicked the extra point. With less than two minutes remaining Dalton scored again to tie the score. The Warriors then held Dalton on the one-yard line to prevent them from scoring again. The Warriors closed the season with a victory over the North Whitfield Pioneers in the home- coming game. Frank Wall, Rickey Liebe, and Connie Kellerhals made the touchdowns with Butch Hannah kicking all three extra points. The Warriors' season closed with a 7-1-1 record. Lakeview finished second behind Dalton in the 7-AA Region standings. The staff has en- deavored to produce a book which will bring back reminiscences to students who once walked the halls of Lakeview. If the WARRIOR has served as a torch to cut through, to bring back, to cause smiles or tears, but always a memory, then the purpose of this book has been fulfilled. I would like to thank the staff for their work and cooperation during the past year. I would like to especially thank Jimmie Gilreath, Angie Dickens, and Eva Forster for their time and effort which they gave so willingly. To our sponsor, Miss Donna Howell, I give special thanks. Along with her hard work, she always had words of encouragement and guidance for every member of the staff. I hope that this book will become cherished through the years, and that it will always bring back renewed memories of Lakeview High School. Sincerely, Carol Lamb Editor f
