Student Council Every school needs one group of students which teachers can depend on new students can look to for help and which organizes school activities to promote school pride and academic achievement At Lakeview the student council spon sored by Mrs Dretha Burris is this club The theme of Lakeview s student council for this year was Reach for the Stars which was also adopted by the all city student council This year s student council planned and participated in many activities throughout the year both before and after school began Their first duties began last year with officer elections for the 84 85 school year This election brought president Brent Theis to office as well as vice president Felisa Hunter and others During orientation Members help promote school spirit by organizing fun things such as ress up ays car decorating contests and spirit dances after the varsity home football games They also promoted academics by organizing Brain Pool a group of students who helped other students with classwork The Student Council showed that people really do care by sending flowers to families of students who had experienced tragedies birthday cards to students holding a canned food drive and sending survival kits for new students Other student council activities in cluded Headlines and the thought for the day on the morning announcements in vocations at varsity home football games organization of both the Homecoming as we was Some members of the Student Council are so popular it is necessary for them I go Incognito' the summer months the stu dent council helped during registration and freshman Dance the Legacy Awards!Centennial Ball and TWIRP Week lunior, Valerie Cooper, takes time out to daydream. junior Kim Parsons performs one of her duties as an officer of Student Council. . 4 tex gsm Even in Student Council people sometimes need help.
