Clay Barber stretches out before performing his final routine. Gymnastics Lakeview Gymnastics Team flips to another successful geasonl Lakeview girls gymnastics team led by all-arounder and All-American Tammy Mowery, once again completed a season that Patriots can be proud of, Other all-arounders rvho contributed greatly to the team's success were ireshman Melissa Stringer, Sophomore Kim Christian, lunior vlarsha Merington, and senior Sharon Muse. Coach Meunz contributes this year's success to excep- ional talent and depth. l'This year we've got six or seven girls that we can put up on each event. Which keeps the team competitive. Some of our first year girls have really pushed the older girls for their spots in the line up. Some of our younger athletes like Cynthia Fryar, Cindy haris, lennifer Herald, Cindy Herald, Stacy Crossley, and ina Anger will develop into a fine competitive team in the fears to come. While the girls were busy winning their meets,-the young nexperienced Lakeview boys' team was developing into a iuture state-championship team. Coach Meunz says: Our team was made up almost entirely of first year gymnasts who were either freshmen or sophomores. These boys im- proved tremendously during the season. Dutstanding all-around athletes who competed this year ivere Alan McGrath, Stephen Schneider, Doug Brennan, vtike Strange, and leff Garmon. The team score improved over 50 points this season. This tan be greatly attributed to hard work and dedication from athletes such as Alan Buck, Doug Lee, Barry Carlson, Chad mith and Aldo Blackstock. Coach Meunz was really enthusiastic about the potential n this year's and next year's gymnastics team. With more End more people trying out for gymnastics the program will ecome the state powerhouse. Thanks to all the Seniors for all the long hours of hard fvork and dedication to the team and good luck to next fear's team. We hope it is an all-around winning season! Q ta Q. Even though we lost our games, we were only losing by one or two points, remarks Coach Skinner. The most ex- citing games throughout the season was their 2-4 trail behind rival North Garland, and a O-1 tag to Garland High. The 1 team's outstanding players were offensive leader Katie Tabor and defensive leaders Kristi Tillery - Fullback, and Annette Bailey - Halfback, and Tatia Wood - Sweeper. l'The team made remarkable progress, says Coach Skinner, wand the girls really began to work as a unit by the end of the season. ,W 'S Annette Bailey, 34, throws the ball in, Patriot team member gets her knee wrapped before the game

Tennis Team The Lakeview Centennial Tennis Team did better than many expected this year. Though the team did not have the personnel to compete with most schools they still had the confidence to and the motiva- tion to face the opponent with a good attitude. The players each put in much hard work and effort - practicing an ex- cruciating number of hours. Another reason for the teams slow season was because of their youth. The team only had one senior this year. There were high points for Lakeview, too. We dominated the llcities team this year, Garland High School. Coach Hood suspects Robb Creebon, and jeff Seals to improve and give Lakeview much success in the future. Brad Shoemaker and Leslie Price had a great year and are two that Coach Hood thinks very highly of. Coach Hood says he's trying to keep a low profile. Don't let him slip away because he may lead the best tennis team Lakeview has had in six years. Saliem Virani practices a game of doubles. The team will improve much especially considering only one player will be leaving the squad. Summing up, one might say that the hard work and dedication of our Lakeview i Centennial Tennis participz will pay off in the future wl we keep the Patriot's tradit going by showing c competitiveness.
