Varsity Soccer The Lakeview Patriots Varsity Soccer team finished half a game out of second place. Had they been in second they would have gone to the playoffs with North Mesquite. Coach Gar- vin said that he thought our team was better than both North Garland and North Mesquite, the playoff teams in our district, since we had beaten North Mesquite once 3-2 and tied North Garland twice in games in which we should have won. Overall, Lakeview finished with a final record of 7-3-2. The Patriots had an outstanding defense, and goalie, Shawn Blakenship gave up an average of a little more than one goal a game. Mark Cupp led the offense with most goals scored. Cupp had six goals against Garland and 3 goals against Rockwall. Randy Bond end- ed the season as the second leading scorer on the team, Senior, Pravin Moodley, had an outstanding year on defense and was thought to be a key player in keeping the balls away from the goal. Coach Garvin says that the team should also have a good season next year, but it will be hard to replace the athletic abilities of Shawn Blankenshp and Mark Cupp. Q Q1 aw sg. 4' ,im 47 5 ,,,i,,, , A MA , ' 2 3 r t , z ww , ww, iw vs. ,i
