Freshman Gold Basketball The Freshman Gold sketball team finished the 34-85 season with an erall record of 10-14. ey finished fourth in trict play with a record of P. The Gold team was not issed with much height 9 year, therefore they had rely on their quickness d outside shooting lities. Charlie Taylor was Cap- 1 for the Cold Team. He s the starting point guard 1 was selected as the 1m's Most Valuable yer. Ernest Pegue and Dexter Pickron were the leading scorers. They both averaged around 15 points per game. Mike Burcham was the team's leading rebounder with an average of 10 per game. Bart McMurray received the Mr. Hustle award for his hard work, attitude and dedication to the team. Other team members in- cluded: Shawn Tabor, Bob- by Hartline, Kerry Bassinger, Kirk Sparks, Mounty Followwell. Freshman Blue Basketball The boys Freshman Blue Basketball team, coached by lack Catlett, showed im- provement after a slow start. Several season highlights included: a 58-57 loss to always tough Mesquite in district play. A 64-36 romp over Rockwall in pre-district, and district victories over North Garland,' 58-48, and Highland Park, 34-32. Girls Varsity Basketball The Girls Varsity Basketball Team, coached by Kathy Koch, had their best season in years, by finishing the season with 5-7 district record, A 55-54 vvin over North Mesquite and 46-45 victory over Bishop Lynch, proved to be the most exciting games of the season. Averag- ing 22 points per game, Shawn Williams, had a total of 544 points for the season, and was named the Most Valuable Player by Coach Koch. Offensively the best player was Marka Hunt, with a total of 253 points for the season and approximately ll points per game. Outstanding players for defense were Annette Bailey, Carla Albright and Lisa Harris. Leading rebounders for the team were Carla Albright and Marka Hunt. 'tWe had a good overall season, says Coach Koch. llWe played and beat some good strong teams. 'lWe'll miss a lot of good graduating talent.
