4 j.V. Basketball The Patriot j.V. had another great year. The 1984-85 Lakeview junior Varsity ended the season with an impressive 27-3 record. The team finished pre-district with a 16-1 record and was equally dominating in district with a mark of 11-2 which was good enough to earn the Patriots the district championship. During the year the Patriots competed in three tournaments winning the championship in two, and plac- ing second in the other. Lakeview was the host of the annual holiday classic and won the tourney with three straight victories. The victims were Woodrow Wilson C96-31j, North Mesquite 157-38j, and Skyline Q52-51j in the cham- pionship. The next tournament was at R. L. Turner. Lakeview again came out a champion, beating Pearce 59-50, Turner 69-58, and Richardson 67-65 in the championship game. The final tournament of the year was the Plano Tournament and found Lakeview opening up play with a 69-59 victory over Viner. Next came to a 44-33 victory over Plano East. The Championship game against Plano resulted in the Patriots' first loss of the season 66-59. Lakeview opened district play with an 86-46 victory over Mesquite followed by a 74-66 victory over Wilmer-Hutchins. The Patriots then defeated Highland Park 59-47, North li Garland 68-65, and South A ld Garland 65-35. The team end- ed the season with victories over Highland Park 57-55 and Garland 65-62. Outstanding players for the I j.V. this year were: Reggie Brown, Greg Hunter, Ron jackson, Ricky johnson, Mallory Cheadle, Shaanon Loya, Kevin jones, David Pinkston, and jeff Gray. Freshman Blue Basketball The boys Freshman Blue Basketball team, coached by lack Catlett, showed im- provement after a slow start. Several season highlights included: a 58-57 loss to always tough Mesquite in district play. A 64-36 romp over Rockwall in pre-district, and district victories over North Garland,' 58-48, and Highland Park, 34-32.
